The Birth of Freedom

Created by the Acton Institute and slated to air on American public television late this year, The Birth of Freedom stretches across 2500 years and through the rise and fall of great empires, from the trial of Socrates to the murder of Cicero, from the fall of Rome to the rise of Europe, and from the birth of capitalism to the abolition of slavery.

A richly produced documentary that includes commentary from such noted intellectuals as George Weigel, Rodney Stark and Robert George, the one hour film poses a question central to modern civilization: Why was freedom born not in China, India, or Africa, but in the West? What made the difference? (This film is very historical)
