The 2009 John Paul II International Film Festival was the festival’s innagural year and ran from October 29th through November 7th in Miami, FL. The festival’s 2009 theme, Faith Through the Storm, was in honor of the trust it takes to journey the unknown while keeping one’s convictions.

The 2009 film festival was held in several one-of-a-kind, beautiful, and fairly intimate theaters through out South Florida including the Dolphin Mall Cobb’s CinéBistro, which hosted the JP2IFF’s Opening Night Film & Reception.

Who We Are

"In order to communicate the message entrusted to her by Christ, the Church needs art. Art must make perceptible, and as far as possible attractive, the world of the spirit, of the invisible, of God. "

-Pope John Paul II

The John Paul II International Film Festival is purely modeled after the values and ideals of the late—Great—Pope John Paul II. Our festival features films that uphold human dignity, the sanctity of life, Christian unity, as well as (true) freedom and responsibility. Much like John Paul II, we believe in the power of evangelizing through film by showcasing the beauty, complexity, trials, and triumphs of the human life.
